Clone Verification

  • Clone details can be viewed within our Gene Search results.  When browsing search results, clicking on a Clone/Oligo ID opens a new area in the lower portion of the browser window providing access to additional information such as vector maps, antibiotic resistance, cDNA or shRNA sequence, and much more.

cDNA or ORF clones

Plate-row-column coordinates, DNA sequences, and annotations originate from the supplier and have not been independently verified by Open Biosystems. We do, however, curate and act upon customer reported problems with clones.  We therefore strongly recommend the following routine precautions:

  1. Prior to purchase, the customer should analyze the GenBank sequence for the clone of interest using BLAST or other bioinformatics tools.

  2. After purchase, the customer should end-sequence the clone and BLAST the result against the GenBank sequence.

shRNA or shRNAmir clones

We also suggest that customers verify the suitability of shRNA clones with respect to their gene(s) of interest.  The short hairpin RNA sequence for a given construct within our collections can be found with our Gene Search.  It is listed in the clone "Details"  area under "Sequence" and is color coded to assist in identification of the 'gene' targeting bases.  When aligning these sequences keep in mind that shRNA constructs are designed against coding and non-coding regions (CDS or UTR and intergenic).
