The Brain Molecular Anatomy Project is a trans-NIH project
aimed at understanding gene expression and function in the nervous
system. BMAP has two major goals:- Gene Discovery: to catalog all of the genes expressed in the nervous system, under both normal and abnormal conditions.
- Gene expression analysis: to monitor gene expression patterns
in the nervous system as a function of cell type, anatomical location,
developmental stage and physiological state, and thus gain insight into
gene function.
In pursuit of these goals, M. Bento
Soares has developed cDNA libraries from 10 regions of adult mouse
brain, spinal cord, and retina. From these libraries, over 50,000 EST
clones have been sequenced and clustered. The resulting 37,459 unique
clones have been arrayed into the BMAP Non-redundant Collection. This
collection is to be sequence verified in 2003. The clones in this
collection are available individually via our clone query or as a
complete set.
Shipping Information:
Individual clones:
Clones are provided as a ready to use live
culture in a 2ml tube. Each tube contains LB medium supplemented with
8% glycerol and ampicillin for selection. Within 4-6 days of receiving
your order we will ship your clone at room temperature via express
delivery. Store the stock clone at -80°C.
Clone Collections:
Orders
of 50 clones or greater and stock plates will be provided in 96-well
microtiter plates. All clones are ampicillin resistant and each
microtiter plate in the collection contains one vector only. These will
ship on dry-ice via overnight delivery and should be stored at -80°C
immediately upon receipt. Please contact our customer service
department for a quote and estimated shipping time on bulk orders.
