Brian Pollock, Chief Executive Officer
Brian is the co-founder of Open Biosystems, and started the company with Troy Moore in July 2002.  As our CEO, Brian sets corporate strategy, manages our corporate assets and is engaged in driving our explosive growth with excellence.  Prior to founding Open Biosystems, Brian was with Invitrogen and Research Genetics as Chief Information Officer.  As a serial entrepreneur, Brian contributes drive and vision to the team, and his information technology background provides a unique perspective in developing the bioinformatics infrastructure to support the business.


Troy Moore, Chief Technical Officer
Troy co-founded Open Biosystems with Brian Pollock in July 2002 and is responsible for developing and maintaining our broad relationships with thought leaders in RNAi, genomics and proteomics and providing strategic direction to our product development and technology acquisition efforts.  Troy’s background includes starting successful biotech entrepreneurial ventures as well as broad experience in managing R&D, manufacturing and product teams with larger enterprises such as Research Genetics, where he led the Genomic Libraries Division and Invitrogen, where he was Director of Genomic Resources.  Troy’s successes in closing large-scale deals with pharmaceutical companies and his ability to build organizations, people, and product lines in this industry bring significant depth to the Open Biosystems team.  His responsibilities include developing and maintaining our collaborative relationships with some of the finest researchers in the world, and developing new innovation into products and services.


Matt Baker, Vice President of Proteomics & Business Development
Matt Baker joined Open Biosystems when Epitope Designs was acquired by Open Biosystems in November of 2002.  Matt was the founder and president of Epitope Designs, a company focused on products and services for protein detection and characterization.  Matt brings extensive experience in business development and technical knowledge in proteomics to the team.  Prior to founding Epitope Designs, Matt served as the Director of Antibodies at Invitrogen.  He currently oversees operations in the proteomics business unit and is engaged in developing our key account relationships and integrating new products and services into Open's portfolio.
 

Pete Yanul, Chief Financial Officer
Pete joined Open Biosystems in June 2007 and is responsible for financial operations and human resources.  Prior to joining Open Biosystems, Pete was Associate Director of Financial Planning & Analysis with Nektar Therapeutics.  He has also held financial management and planning roles at FedEx, Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation and a few smaller manufacturing organizations.  Pete holds a B.S. degree in Accounting from Le Moyne College and an M.B.A. from Syracuse University. 


Woody Woodward, Vice President of Sales and Marketing
Woody joined Open Biosystems in 2006 to integrate the Field and Inside Sales, Marketing and Technical Support efforts into a coordinated unit focused on meeting the customer’s needs and increasing sales. As a member of the executive team he will contribute to developing the company’s long term strategy. Woody comes to Open Biosystems with experience in biotechnology having served at the VP of Sales and Marketing for Miltenyi Biotec, a cell sciences company.


Blake Simmons, Director of Operations
Blake has been with Open Biosystems since its inception in July 2002.  Being the force behind the establishment of our production laboratory, he remains responsible for developing processes and protocols that result in the high quality products being delivered to our customers.  Blake currently oversees daily operations of the production laboratory and is responsible for transitioning R&D projects into Open Biosystems products.  Prior to his employment with Open Biosystems, Blake served as a production department manager at Invitrogen (Research Genetics).


David Kloske, Director of Software / Information Technology
David joined the Open Biosystems team in 2006 and is responsible for overseeing all software development, bioinformatics and information technology efforts.   He has been developing high-quality server, desktop and web-based commercial software applications and providing software architectural guidance for more than 15 years.  Prior to Open Biosystems, David was the Software Architect at ADS Environmental Services.  He has also worked for Intergraph Corporation and MessageMedia, serving in a variety of software development, architectural, and leadership roles.  David graduated with honors with a Computer Engineering degree from the University of Florida and obtained a Masters Degree in Computer Science from the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
