Codon Devices Signs Distribution Agreement with Open Biosystems
Expands Access to Industry-Leading Gene Synthesis Offering

CAMBRIDGE, MA and HUNTSVILLE, AL – June 25, 2007 –Codon Devices Inc. and Open Biosystems Inc. announced today that they have entered into an agreement in which Open Biosystems will distribute Codon Devices’ gene synthesis offering in North America. This relationship marries Codon Devices’ high-quality, low-cost synthetic gene development and production ability with Open Biosystems’ dominant full-length cDNA and ORF clone offering, bioinformatics capabilities, and academic focus. It gives Codon Devices greater capability to reach the academic market, which has smaller transactions and more diverse requirements than the commercial market. Conversely, Open Biosystems can now provide researchers with any gene sequence that they need: from off-the-shelf clones to genes synthesized to the customer’s specifications.

Codon Devices is driving wide-spread adoption of high-quality, low-cost synthetic genes. To date, the Company has maintained a minimum order threshold and thus access to its proprietary industrial-scale BioFAB™ production platform has been restricted to researchers with large-scale requirements. Under the terms of the agreement, Open Biosystems, a leading provider of gene analysis tools, will sell and distribute Codon Devices’ gene synthesis offering to researchers with needs that fall below Codon Devices’ minimum order threshold.

“Through its aggressive investments in the BioFAB™ platform, Codon Devices has moved quickly to industrialize synthetic biology and become a world leader in gene synthesis,” said Brian Pollock, Chief Executive Officer, Open Biosystems. “We are delighted to provide our customers with a new product offering that is clearly revolutionizing how life science research is conducted.”

”We are excited to work with Open Biosystems to provide our gene synthesis offering to a wider range of customers,” said John P. Danner, President and Chief Executive Officer, Codon Devices. “This partnership will enable more scientists to access our BioFAB™ platform and harness the power of Constructive Biology™ to rapidly enable new fields of academic research, overcome key obstacles in renewable energy, and streamline the development of new therapeutics.”
